Dodger fans, should Torre bring in Randolph to groom as his successor?

Mattingly doesn't seem to want to live on the West Coast and, let's face it, the Dodgers kid's may take longer to develop than this current crew of veterans (Kent, Nomar, Lowe, Furcal) can stay useful and/or affordable...

Torre has already said that this 3-year deal will be his last before retirement. With their best prospects still in their early to mid 20s, it's possible that they're still 4-5 years from "the promised land."

Randolph's stock is pretty low right now, but he's still highly respected by the players. Give him two-plus years on the bench with Torre, building a team of young players, and the Dodgers might luck into something they haven't had in a long while.....Continuity.

Why would he "groom" him. Randolph knows how to manage, he doesn't need to be "groomed." The Dodgers could just hire him after Torre's tenure is done, which may be sooner than 3 years. Randolph would be a good fit for them also, since he played for the Dodgers and was pretty popular in LA.
