my toilet broke about a year ago and i never got around to fixing it til now i found it was the flush flap that was worn and letting the tank to drain and then refill and waste water so here is the question do eljer toilets use any kinda speical flaps made for the toilet or can i buy this generic flap i found at wal mart it looked like it the old flap should i buy it or not????

Turn the water to the toilet off and remove the flap, find one like it and replace. Should work well. Be sure to clean the surface where it closes. If it doesn't seal good, put a thin coat of Vaseline on the underside of the new flap.

Take old flap off and go to local ace hardware. They always carry the hard to finds and have a very knowledgable staff. This is where i got my replacement at after some guy at lowes tried to sell me a universal replacement. They had the exact one i needed. Do not buy that one at walmart go to ace.

Get another toilet Eljer is junk, Kohler, American Standard, and Toto make excellent toilets
