How do you start up a fuel injected engine?

(3) build fuel pressure (up to a minute or more)
(4) crank engine.

Put gas in, turn the key to the on position, but do not turn the engine over. You can usually hear the fuel pump working for a few seconds, then try turning it over. You have to let the fuel pressure build up enough for it to start, so you may want to repeat this step a couple times....Show more

Well, I had a 94 Ford SHO motor outside the car, and I had everything hooked up, but the injectors were not firing, though I had spark. So what I did (And you have to be very careful) was to crank it over and spray starting fluid through the MAF opening/Throttle body. I'm not sure about your particular motor, as I had the main PCM, the ignition module, the steering column, and gauge cluster all hooked up. The reason you have to be careful with this is, depending on the design of your intake manifold, you risk forming a puddle of starting fluid in the intake, and if it backfires/misfires, you could blow the manifold. I believe when I ran my motor(for maybe 30 seconds to a minute) It was mostly running on the vapor(Which is highly flammable.) The injectors will NOT fire without the PCM and fuel pump, as well as input from the Inertia cutoff switch in the vehicle, which is were I think my problem was. You may not be able to get it to fire properly without the PCM, but it's worth a shot. No guarantees though....Show more

Put gas in the tank and try to turn it over a few times. your fuels lines will be empty so give it a couple of tries and it should start right up...Show more

first make sure the car is yours and grab the key and start it (also the fuel shut off switch may have been triggered)
are you sure it ran out of gas and its not the fuel pump
to make sure the fuel pump has pressure push on the service port valve on the fuel rail and see if gas comes out...Show more
