North American hard court season is next, which climaxes with the US open. This year is slightly different to others as the Olympics take place just before the US Open.

Here's a rough typical calendar:
Jan to Apr - Hard court season (Australian Open - Jan)
May to Jun - Clay court season (French Open - May/June)
June - Grass court season (Wimbledon - June)
July to Aug - North American hard court season (US Open - Aug/Sep)
Sep to Oct - Indoor season
Nov - End of year Championships
Nov to Dec - Off season

During an Olympics years, the tournament will take place usually in August.

Well, Nadal is playing in the last clay court tournament Stutggart. Then comes the Rogers Masters Cup in Toronto. The Masters Cup in Shanghai ends the tournament.
