What is the best cleaner to get stuck on dirt off a bath tub?

When my husband and I moved into our home the bath tub had stuck on dirt and I have tried to clean it with comet and scrub it with a tooth brush but that does not work. It is not well ventilated because it has no fajn and the window is difficult to open so I was wondering if anyone can tell me what I can use that will clean it without harming me as I clean it.

I swear by a product that used to be called Castrol - now I think it's known as the Purple Stuff and is usually found in the automotive section LOL - it is a cleaner/degreaser and it is magic! Just wear gloves as it is strong, and test first on a inconspicuous spot, and rinse quickly on paint as it will dissolve that if left on too long ...but I clean almost everything tough with this stuff (try it in the kitchen - you'll never buy a kitchen cleaner again- greasy range tops, stove back splashes, sticker ink stains on the counter top, general crud - poof!) Now all my friends swear by it also LOL!

Soft scrub with BLEACH works very well and hardly no scrubbing once it sits. Get some scotch-brite sponges and pour a bunch of soft scrub around the tub then rub it all over the tub. Don't rinse off let it sit for an hour, then go after an hour is up and rub with the scrub part of the sponge. You'll hardly need to do any heavy scrubbing because this stuff works well. Rinse off well and it's clean and shiny. I used to clean apartments and used this on the filth and grime on the tubs. I hope that I have helped

If it is a porcelain tub my mom used liquid dishwasher soap in hers let it sit then scrubbed then filled the tub with hot water. It worked great and looked new when she was done. I have a newer cheap tub and make a baking soda paste to scrub at it and if really bad dip a scrub brush in vinegar.

Poor some bleach on the stains....open the windows as much as you can for ventilation or get a mask....use gloves and then scrub away with non-scratch Brillo pads.

There are also bleaches that have new scents like Clean Linen ( what I use)

Gel Toilet bowl cleaner but your gonna have to open that window. Let the cleaner sit on the dirt 20 min, then scrub and rinse. Done!
