im buying a new graphics card but i dont understand what it means by GDDR3 on the specs of the card.... becasue my pc is DDR2 beased ram memory... will it still work? or is the gpu memory is like that or does it need GDDR3 ram to run it.

as long as the motherboard of your computer supports the new video card then its ok for you to use it.
but if its not supported then dont use it.

There is no connection what so ever between GDDR3 and DDR2, u can put any card on any system as long as u have the right slot for it (AGP,PCI-E) the 9600GT is a very good choice, it's PCI-E so if u have that slot on your Motherboard u will be fine, now i don't know why you are going for the 9600GT while the 9800GTX is now 200$ it's true that it needs more wattage but it's faster and it has Physx enabled on it after downloading the special drivers.
any way just make sure u have the right slot on your Motherboard and enough power in your Power supply

GDDR is different because the G stands for graphics. It doesn't matter what type you stick in your computer, as long as the actual video card can stick in there fine.
