falling in love with a woman, but having her turning you down in favor of a complete moron. Or falling in love with a woman, but having her turn you down for your best friend?
I'm going through the later, and I don't think I've ever felt a worse feeling.

It could be worse. She could have turned you down for absolutely nobody. Now that would suck!
she turns you down for a complete moron. You will always wonder why, be frustrated, and wonder what she saw in you, or worse..what she saw in him you didnt have. As for the best friend, you learn a good life lesson. Because if you left her or she cheated, you learn he's not a friend and she isnt worth it. And girls get with best buds because they are vulnerable, and their last relationship is already in the open. If he just beat you to her and she never knew you wanted her, at least you know she's with a good guy, considering he is ur best bud..and learn from ur mistakes with the next girl. But i'd be mad either way. Sorry. I guess what you can do is evaluate exactly why you think you love her, and go from there. You dont want to be with someone who doesnt feel the same way you do. Its just heartbreak.
In a way you're losing 2 people if this girl you love prefers your best friend. If this girl is smart enough, she'll realize her mistake in selecting the moron for you.
It took me decades of thought and distance to realize that I was actually lucky to have lost all my old loves. Thinking rationally, which is not always easy, I now know that we are all better off for what I had considered to be my losses. I would not even want to know any of them now...I can't imagine what my life would be like if I was married to any of them.
Yet, I love people and value friendship. I am just pleased that I avoided so many potential mistakes.
