Do I have to use Qwest's modem for DSL or will any work?
...with Qwest DSL will other brands of modems work so I can shop competitively at Best Buy or something? I wouldn't think I'd actually need THEIR junk. I'd be getting a multi connection wireless networking modem with multiple ethernet ports for direct connections also - like for VOD for my satellite receiver. Also, I only have laptops and didn't plan on a permanent ethernet connection to a computer - is that required?

I don't have it yet. Will other non-qwest modems work?

Yes you can, Qwest doesn't officially support other brands but if you know how to program the modem you can use it, in my personal opinion if you can't get more that 1.5mb with qwest id say f**k off and go to comcast, now on the professional level...I am a qwest sales agent so here is my sales pitch, if you qualify for the 7mb or higher then qwest is cheeper than comcast, and there is a Network Modem that Qwest offers, it has 4 ethernet ports and a wireless signal, and depending what speed you get the price changes, if you get the speed 1.5mb it cost $100, if you get the middle speed 7mb it cost $40, and if you get one of the higher speeds 12mb or 20mb its free. so if you feel this info was helpful and you want still want to order qwest you can email me at jeremy.linke@qwest.com anytime Mon-Fri
