When I hear cheering crowds about raising taxes, stealing from the rich to give to the poor so things can be "fair", and people nodding their heads about lost rights for a higher sense of security...I must ask, "Are you afraid of freedom?"
Do you think that if there were less laws, the war on drugs ended (crimes without victims), and less reliance put on government to "care" for us all, our country would fall apart with the inherent evil of mankind?

lazlo: ummm....I did not claim that Ron Paul approves of Bob Barr. But here ya go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVw8LaeQX9A It's not an actual endorsement but nice words anyway. I do adore Ron Paul and he's an amazing man, but I think Bob Barr would be an easier pill for America to swallow.

I don't agree with the 'anti freedom' crowd. I believe in personal freedom and personal responsibility. People are afraid of profit and prosperity when they do not themselves get a share of the pie. For some reason they think they're being forced to buy products off big multinationals - guess what; in a capitalist society YOU'RE FREE TO NOT TRADE WITH THEM.
I think most of them are egocentric, jealous, lazy, anti-freedom idiots, that does not understand what America is about.
I live in Denmark, where corporate tax and income tax is at 60% (for most) - with a 25% VAT and 300% tax on cars to boot. We have a term in Denmark called "Janteloven" - Jante's Law - describing how achieving is bad and how showing success is even worse - keep low, or we'll tax you into poverty. There are several instances - because of this mentality - of individuals having to pay in excess of 100% in taxes. That's right. These people are forced to sell their house, cars etc. because they presumably lived life "too good for the socialist state to accept".
This is why many Danes, including me, are trying to get to the states as quickly as possible. I want to enjoy the freedom America's forefathers fought for - and I want to help enable others to do the same. I'll happily donate my money to poor people. Ever seen the movie "the pursuit of happyness"? That could only happen in America. That some now want to take those personal freedoms and responsibilities away makes me sad - undermining a great part of what makes America the greatest nation on earth.
In Denmark the government owns us. A big part of this is due to socialized health care. The latest idea the government has come up with is--and I'm not kidding; this is the actual words used by them--"behaviour regulation" - they're literally trying to pass laws that aims to regulate how we all live our lives. They want government-mandated fitness and a ban on unhealthy foods. They want to force us to use public transport, and use only one type of energy.
I hope you Americans never go down that road. Denmark is in a sorry state. I want the American dream.
God bless America. Please keep America free. With government control comes only less freedom and less personal responsibility. It's my job to keep myself healthy, not the government's.
And those trying to convince us all that western European countries have better schools, better health care and lower crime is just phatetic.
Per capita my country Denmark is higher on the crime lists than America - so is UK and Finland.
Schools in Denmark SUCKS - literally. How come the world's best schools are in the States?
Health care - how come so many Scandinavians has to go to America to be treated for cancer? Most people in Denmark with cancer dies before they even get to treatment - that's how long the waiting lists are. Last time I was at the hospitals for eye treatment, I got to wait 6 hours - and I did have a reservation. They never cured my eye.
Unfortunately, Barr entered the race too late. Had he run in the primaries he most likely would have been a viable candidate. At this point, however, voting for Barr is the same thing as voting for Obama.
Honestly ... I would like to see another party candidate ... MAYBE ... Barr ... start to make some headway towards "showing strength" in power AND numbers, NOW, for the 2012 Elections.
I do not want to vote 3rd party this time around ... I am afraid to take votes from McCain that would possibly allow the Socialist / Communist / Liberal / Marxist ANTI-American Democratic Nominee, JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama to become OUR President !!
JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama is ANTI-American.
JUNIOR U.S. Senator OBAMA wants to END WORLD POVERTY on ... OUR NICKEL AND SURRENDER THE United States ... to THE United Nations. . Please, search the ...
Global Poverty Act (S.2433), ... and it is being sponsored by none other than JUNIOR U.S. Senator Barack Obama ... with a had a total of 143 DAYS of experience ... believes that he DESERVES to be THE President of THE United States of America. . WE NEED to start doing the "REPORT ABUSE" Button on the ABUSIVE Obama Supporters for EVERY LITTLE ... POSSIBLE ... Violation, like they do to the rest of the people on here !!!! . JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama is being show - "celebrity" - favoritism by the Liberal Media !!!
IF ... JUNIOR U.S. Senator OBAMA was a WHITE man WITH the SAME LACK of Qualifications, HE would have been - L A U G H E D - out of the Nomination process ... in the BEGINNING !!!! . CHANGE ... is ALL that you will get back from the Socialist / Communist / Liberal / Marxist Democrats, when they TAKE your hard earned paycheck from you to give it to able bodied people, "FEEDERS", who do NOT want to get off of their butts and actually get a job !! Our wonderful government hand-out programs !!
Please, TRY to .. HOPE .. in one hand and SPIT in the other hand!
By American standards, Western Europe has slightly bigger government - and much less crime, much better education systems and much better health care. The principle: As much government as necessary, and a little as possible. It tends to work best in smaller countries, but the vast majority of Europeans support this type of government - liberals, conservatives and social democrats alike.
