What is the difference between T (AT&T) and AT (ATT)?

They are listed in Yahoo quotes as different symbols at different prices, but the news for one shows up under the other symbol. Could anybody explain this? Thanks

Well, even the answers offer a puzzle. I looked up Altel, and on their site it lists the stock symbol as ATT. Then I followed the link the other person provided for the AT&T debt, and that too seems to be correct. This is weird, but it seems you are both correct, at least so far.

T is equity. ATT is debt, a senior note.

Different companies. AT&T and Alltel. Yahoo not connecting right.
