Basically, the definition of a muscle car is a 2 door, mid size sedan from the 60s/70s that is powered by a big block V8 engine.

You're right, most people have decided that the 1964 Pontiac GTO is the first muscle car. There were earlier cars that technically fall under the muscle car definition such as a 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 426 Wedge big block V8. But the '64 GTO was the first car to be successfully marketed using the muscle car formula.

Generally speaking it was the Pontiac GTO......

Some folks will argue it was a late 50's Chrysler 300 2 door with a Hemi engine..... Most muscle cars were a mid sized car which the Chrysler was not, hence some folks dont think the Chrysler should be called a "Muscle Car".....

properly... people who do no longer possibly be conscious of something approximately muscle vehicles possibly shouldn't purchase them possibly extra valuable finding at a competent used motor vehicle like a toyota leave the muscle vehicles to the gearheads

I think it was a Chrysler 300 they were called high performance road cars but were very highly wanted by gear heads.
