Disable Fingerprint scanner on Acer notebook?

I have the Acer Aspire 6920 and it has the fingerprint scanner on it. Problem is, when I first got my laptop, it asked me to set up my fingerprint and whatnot, and when I rebooted it the next time I wasn't aware that it would require me to scan my fingerprint everytime I start it up. I'm having issues still with it to read my print properly, and I finally get it after about 20+ tries. Lol. I cannot figure out how to disable it. Can anyone help me with this? I don't want it to ask me to scan when I turn the computer on anymore. I just want to be able to turn it on without wasting 10 mins trying to get in my computer. Thanks for any help.

If I disable the device, will that not cause problems in the startup when it does ask for my fingerprint? Or will it just not ask anymore?

Look in Start Menu > Control Panel for a protection software for your fingerprint scanner. There should be a built-in software to your operating system that controls settings for the device. There, you should be able to activate/deactivate it or alter settings to your liking.

You could also try going to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager. Click on Biometric and disable the "touchchip fingerprint coprocessor".

Let me know if this helps!

Acer Laptop With Fingerprint Reader

HI. Been trying to find a solution , to educate my self as well as answer you. I have two options out of my own head as i can't find what i would like to know. Some of the media acers have the media button settings tied in with the mouse settings , so try that. Windows Start > Control Panel > Mouse> ? . My other idea would be to disable via msconfig. Windows Start > Search box " msconfig " > Start up > ?? >disable. Not sure what you will find to disable relating to finger print / bio reader . PS My Acer has a user guide Windows Start> Search box " Guide ".

Flash a new BIOS. Worked for me.
