Why was my question removed and I did not receive any further information?
My question was, "What is the name of the song in the U.S. Cellular "shrug" commercial?" Not offensive in any way! It's a neat "waltzy" song that I was considering using for competition if I could find it. My question was removed and I haven't gotten anything stating why. I had only gotten one answer, but due to my prior research, I knew the answer was wrong (they gave me the title of a song used in a previous commercial -- I found out that much on my own...and if I were looking for THAT song, I wouldn't have bothered posting the question because I had already found it numerous times!)
I guess if it was some random act of rudeness, I'm done with Answers. I'm tired of posting good, quality, positive answers so people can give me a thumbs down -- on a topic they know nothing about -- and there are no repercussions for them. The leader board in my favorite categories hasn't been updated in months either. I used to think this was a great resource for hard-to-find info or new points of view, but it's being ruined for a lot of people.

Taking thumbs down seriously borders on ridiculous. They mean nothing. Your question seems fine to me. I'd watch for a violation notice, then appeal. Yahoo! doesn't review reported questions or answers until an appeal is filed. A questions doesn't have to be rude or offensive to be a violation, but your question seems like a legitimate question to me. And it's ONE little violation! We all get them now and then. It shouldn't really be all that upsetting. Here's some information on appeals:
If you received a violation notice from customer care and would like to contest it, you submit an Appeal by filling in this form.
If you received a violation notice because the community removed your question or answer, you must appeal through the link included in the notification.
If you received a violation e-mail then someone reported it. If this was the case I would appeal it because your question sounds fine to me (unless you put something in the "Additional Details" that may have been a violation). There are a few other reasons why it may have been removed: a) if that one answer was removed the question may have expired with no answers at all in which case the question is automatically deleted, 2) it went "in voting" and the "no best answer" option won out thereby the whole question goes, 3) if the best answer to your question gets reported and removed then the question goes out the window as well. In these last three cases they don't send you an e-mail saying your Q was deleted.
1. It is a violation of the rules - you will get an e-mail when that happens.
2. There were zero answers when the time expired - no e-mail sent.
3. The BA was reported as a violation - no e-mail sent.
4. During voting, "No Best Answer" was chosen as the best answer - no e-mail sent.
Look in your e-mail, including the spam folder, for a violation e-mail. If not there, check your activity tab in your profile. If nothing about a violation there, then the Q was removed for one of the other reasons.
This has happened to me on two separate occasions for non-offensive questions, although the painting was Judith slaying Holofernes (sort of scandalous). It was fine art though and a simple question of if it would make a good tattoo....what's with this?! UGH
