The answer depends on how much you are going to pay for this and how much money you are willing to put into keeping this car on the road.
This my questions to you:
1) Are you ok with the smallish truck? It is a very nice design, but it's built as a more sporty style so trunk same wasn't in the planning, If this is ok with you, than on to the next. 2) The Lexus engines are extremely reliable and can run 200,000 or more easy. But there is one issue that you will likely run into. Since it's over the first 100k, the major service should have been done by now. Find this out first. Timming belt and the 100k major service is expensive. You mentioned spotty records, this would be a red flag. 3) If you are willing to put some money into this car and you didn't pay much for it, it might be worth it. But it's very important to spend the money to get it checked with a Lexus service department. This will save you from making a huge mistake or you may have a good find on your hands.
My gut instinct. Don't buy something that you don't have all the records and need to trust the past owner isn't hiding anything. Trust me. This can be a very expensive 1995 Lexus.
There are so many other used Lexus. Try to buy one that has less than 100,000 and make sure that the major services were done right (no after market parts!). People normally try to sell a car right before a major service. Be a careful buyer.
