no. i just read a big book about this. all it is is a simulation programed into a computer. it can be using special equipment, but otherwise, no. it will almost never be. it is not a real reality. just a fake computer simulation.
on the other side. yes(to an extent)
it will be real on the virtual side. it wont be real in life, but in the reality it might feel like a sense.
