Is it possible for burned data to vanish from a CD?

I recently discovered that some mp3 data burned on CD's disappeared! I listened to those CD's several times and everything was OK. Took them out to listen again, after almost a year, to discover that CD's are clean, without the slightest data written on them. Any clues?

If they were downloaded from a pvp like bearshare.,

And you have unintsalled bearshare. or old version,

They you no longer have the codecs.. maybe?
