I just found a new person to cut my hair and he really goes the extra mile. Takes about 30 minutes total for a $12 dollar cut. While he cuts my hair the conversation is pretty good too; with CNN on their TV. Is giving $5 as a tip too much. He is the only person in this entire town that seems to cut my hair the way I want it.

ya your over the tipping. if you can afford it go ahead. maybe he would prefer you to spread the good comment for new business, and just say thanks. im looking for a new barber shop not salon, last one used a flow-bee (vacuum cutter) and poof gone roots and all.

i think if you can afford to tip this amount then do it. You obviously think the stylist is worth it. Im sure they appreciate it and will continue to give you top service. I know i would im a hairdresser and it makes me feel good to make people happy with the service and i always try to keep up the good work for every client but the tips do help .

but try $3 or $4. five kinda is alot of a $12 hair cut

well you should tip a hair dresser 20% so technically yes you are but i also would tip 5 if i liked the job they were doing so i say keep giving the 5.00

No that is not to much. There was a news article on msn a coupe days ago about the new tipping era where ten percent is no longer the norm and is considered low. It stinks, but its the economy i guess.
