Metal fans what do you think of the band Baroness?

They're a Sludge/Progressive Metal band.

A Perfect Gillman,

Hi there,

Sludge/Progressive Metal? I guess I'm too old for these multiple metal genre distinctions. But the first track sounds like something straight off Black Sabbath's "Master of Reality" album. Obviously the vocals are slightly different, but the band really comes close to that classic Sabb sound. Nice pick.

I heard they were touring with Opeth at the moment. They're pretty good. I love the music but not sure how the vocals fit to the music. I'm not a fan of that style as a rule but their non-vocal sound is extremely good. I do know that their singer is an incredible artist. He done the cover art for Kylesa. I stumbled across Kylesa recently when looking for female fronted bands, They're not my type either lol

Wow, this might be the best band that I have yet out of this genre! Yet another band I can put under my wish list. Thanks APC. I somehow missed these guys while looking for more Post-Sludge Metal bands. Awesome band. I love the vocals. The heaviness is exactly what I like in bands like this. Unlike Isis and Pelican though, this band seems to be more upbeat. This genre is addicting, lol.

I have both The Sword cds & Damn, I think I'm really liking the "sludge" sub-genre. That was good stuff. Esp. the 2nd song. thx!
