after 2 years of being dems or repubs can we now move on and be simply "Americans"?

every 4 years we all divide into parties to get a new leader and after it's all over we often continue to complain. The president elect is eying not only dems but also repubs for his cabinet, not because of their party but because they are the best ones for the job.
Can the masses also drop the party affiliations and all rally around our president to be as full Americans?

Lets hope so. I totally agree with you and it is tearing our country apart. That I believe is a big reason why McCain lost the campaign. To me they seemed to busy trying to divide America with red/blue, white/black, small town/big city.

Finally it seems we have a president elect who understands that you must have associates of all party affiliations to be able to make the proper decision for America. That having a party filled with people who only see your point of view is a very dangerous way to run a country. I believe most republicans are upset, disappointed, and embarrassed with how their party has faltered. Because of that I believe they will rally around our new President to be AMERICANS!

We werent dems or Repubs more than two years ago?

Bush allowed MANY Clinton appointees to keep their jobs under him which was a BIG mistake as they leaked to the media and continually tried to undermine the President. He should have fired them the day after inauguration and replaced them with Republican loyalists.

I think that this one went on so long that we are all a much more divided group now. Kids at school are getting all kinds of racism comments to deal with both white & black. I believe that the racism has just escalated to a new level in this country and I believe that the Democrats ranting about how racist the Republicans are have precipitated this increase.

We've been 2 separate parties for decades, and I don't see that changing. There are fundamental differences in the way we see the world. This is one of the great things about being an American, we have the right to disagree.
