replaced alt. on dodge intrepid it burned out as soon as car was started to be put into service?

if it has an alternator hand on it they are kind of connected together,and that can trigger a short in the dash or the wire that goes to the alternator and cause it to burn out,but it should also cause a huge problem with the alternator hand on the dash on that car,i have seen them do exactly what that ones doing but to find the problem you have to trace the wire from the alternator all the way to the dash,and that takes time unless you use cable tracer ,that will track it down a lot faster and show you where the short is at,there has to be a reason it burns those out,a dead short will kill a new alternator in less than a minute,good luck....Show more
