replaced alt. on dodge intrepid it burned out as soon as car was started to be put into service?
1998 dodge intrepid -mileage ummm i say like at leats 125k , mitshubishi engine 6 cyl... other technician is saying computer is doing it i cant believe it though , this started up after a deer ran into side of car
girl that has the car got a alt. from o'riellys and put it on there soon as the car was started it ran for a bit and wouldnt start , replaced it w/another and did it again soon after so a person with a hand held diagnostic set-up says there is a short from what had held says but a tech that is helping him says it is in the dash , it doesnt seem right because the 2 arent directly inter-connected with each other

if it has an alternator hand on it they are kind of connected together,and that can trigger a short in the dash or the wire that goes to the alternator and cause it to burn out,but it should also cause a huge problem with the alternator hand on the dash on that car,i have seen them do exactly what that ones doing but to find the problem you have to trace the wire from the alternator all the way to the dash,and that takes time unless you use cable tracer ,that will track it down a lot faster and show you where the short is at,there has to be a reason it burns those out,a dead short will kill a new alternator in less than a minute,good luck.

We need more info please , like what year , type of engine , mileage etc and exactly what occurred.
