Picky eater here, please help!!?

My son is 21 months and we have major eating issues. He does not like to eat. All he wants is milk. Period. Sometimes, he will eat, and then he'll go days without eating anything substantial. I am at my witt's end. I know if I continue to make this a battle of wills, nothing will change.

Okay, this week he has had a cold and cough, so I can understand if he has no appetite. Today he had one little cup of applesauce and severl ounces of milk. Yesterday he had the applesauce and cheerios and cups of milk. The boy hates food! No one believes me. Currently he won't eat:

any veggie or fruit (aside from applesauce)
hot dogs
chicken nuggets
mac and cheese
other real cheese
pasta
ground meat
chicken
bread/toast
crackers
yoghurt
etc...

what he will eat:

milk
cheerios
applesauce

SOme of the food from the "won't eat" list, he used to eat at one point, but no longer will try it. Mostly, whenever I serve him dinner/lunch/breakfast/snack he just throws it all on the floor without touching a thing. I've also tried feeding him while he is on the floor or couch.

He is gaining weight and looks healthy otherwise. I feel like we've had issues with food from day one as he hated breast feeding and rejected my attempts to nurse. And it took until he was way past 12 months before he could even eat anything other than stage 2 food without choking and gagging it all back up.

Is there anyone else who has had similar issues with their toddlers? I feel like such a failure. I don't know what to do, please help.

I'm afraid if I don't feed him- including milk- he won't care. It's rare he even acts hungry when I know he must be.

He will not drink anything other than milk. I would LOVE for him to drink water or juice. I actually water down his milk so he thinks it's milk when it's mostly water. I do mainly feed him what we are eating, and even with him sitting at the table with us, he won't eat. He just throws the food on the floor. Like tonight- we had spaghetti (he loved this just 2 months ago) and he wanted nothing to do with it.

spaghetti
lots of yogurt

My son absolutely loves his grandma she feeds him everything and he even eats the things that he wont eat when I try to feed them to him! Try sitting with him on the floor with some pillows or just try to be with him as close as possible and make feeding time..fun time interact with him make mmmmm sounds and play with the spoon as if it was a plane or a train it might work and eat with him maybe he will say ok if mom eats it and its good then I will try it? It might work try seeing if he would eat those foods from someone else's hands. Hope this helps a bit just be patient he will come around to eating those foods and remember all babies are different!!

First of all, you dont give him a choice, dont be a short order chef. Dont give him milk all day. give him breakfast-whatever-cheerios with milk in it, not a cup of milk. if he wont eat it, he will have to wait till snack time- between breakfast and lunch. give him a snack- fruit, meat cheese and crackers.. whatever you decide. if he wont eat that, he will have to wait till lunch, give him grilled cheese, KD, a sandwich with veggies on the side, whatever you want him to eat for a healthy diet. for a drink give him water or juice, not milk. at dinner give him what the rest of the family is eating, dont make him his own special meal, and give him a cup of milk at dinner. he doesnt need milk all day he is almost 2. Do this consistantly, dont give him a choice. You are his parent, hes not the boss. he may cry and throw a fit, or freak right out. he will get over it.
i have always givin my son what we are eating not his own specially prepard meal, he eats everything.
Trust me your kid will eat it if he is hungry enough.

maybe stop offering him milk so much and off foods instead. my 13 month old is really picky too... sometimes he'll only eat peach fruit cups for a week.

definite yet evaluate that maximum folk in the international have not got close to the selection because of the fact the western international locations you likely consume a bigger form of ingredients than lots of the folk in the international. you would be allergic to 3 of the ingredients you do no longer look after or have a bad memory of ways they have been arranged the 1st time you ate them.
