Gift ideas for 8 yr old girl & 12 yr old boy...?

Question

Husband's employer is collecting toys kids at a local children's hospital and hubby got the 2 choices above.  Now I am drawing a blank at what to get these children.  Each has a $20 limit, but we can purchase as many gifts for each, as long as we don't go over the $20 limit.
I'm thinking these two are probably in grades 1 or 2 (girl) and 6 or 7 (boy).
I've thought about a doll, play jewelry so far for the girl, but have NO clue what to buy for a 12 yr old boy.

Remember these kids are IN the hospital, so nothing that requires them to go outside, and they don't have a lot of room to play.

Awww, it's so sweet of you to participate in something like this!

How about a board game?  Cranium is lots of fun.  It's a big hit with my family whenever we play it.  Or an iPod?  The off-brand ones are incredibly cheap to begin with, and even cheaper on eBay!  Or maybe a handheld game, like Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?

If you'd rather browse than try to come up with specific ideas yourself, I highly recommend Amazon.com.  They offer lots of toy ideas for various age and price ranges, so they're a great place to start!
