With economic doom and gloom all around us, we don't want to cancel Christmas in our house. So we have accepted invitations to eat out as much as possible to save on food and heating in our own home! Do you have any other money saving Christmas tips to share?

hmmm, family gifts instead of individual gifts would save money Home made versus store bought Definitely keep accepting those invites, although you need to reciprocate soon, but you could do a pot luck, lol
Instead of PURCHASING Christmas gifts -- how about if you all find CREATIVE Ways of MAKING (Home-Made) Christmas Gifts this year .. you know -- make your own ornaments, make your own gifts, just write a story together (and do drawings) .. or IF you have an elder .. then get them to talk about their life, borrow their old photos, and make them a SCRAPBOOK Family History Book (that you can keep a copy of too!).
I'd be careful about eating 'out' -- it can get EXPENSIVE for sure. That is why I spend time fixing my own meals .. and I am very creative about doing things for the Family at Christmas. It is NOT about the 'Commercialism' for me -- it is more about the real reason for the season -- and family for sure.
Don't waste money on new decorations and cut down on Christmas lights to save on electricity. Don't buy loads of cards- just send them to people who you really need to. Don't buy loads of food that's just going to go to waste. If you have kids, explain that Santa can't fit all of the toys they want in his sleigh.
Apply for magazines that have coupons and use those. Shop wherever they have discounts and use your coupons at the correct stores. Try to search around stores for a bit for a certain item that you or another family member wants and see which store has it for the cheapest.
