My dog has a growth on her head - cancer? (pictures included)?

I have a cocker spaniel who is about 9 years old now. It was discovered around 4 or 5 months ago when her hair was clipped, the woman accidentaly caught it on clippers causing it to bleed, not realising it was there. In the last month it has grown dramatically and is now around the size of a 5p coin. It does not appear to be causing her any pain. The new tissue looks a light pink colour and the old looks black. She is now showing any other symptoms at the moment and seems to be eating and drinking normally. She has another on her neck the same size...should we be worried?

We didn't take her to the vets before because we assumed it was simply warts due to her old age. They were so small and she didn't appear to have any other symptoms - thats why.

Thank you for all your help, we will take her to the vets tomorrow.
I love her to bits - I hope she will be ok, I don't know what I will do without her.

Without looking at the photos, I can be pretty secure in saying that the dog needs to be examined by the vet, not a bunch of strangers on the net.

Call first thing tomorrow and explain the situation and ask for the next available appointment.

Can I ask why the dog wasn't brought in 4-5 months ago??????

Pictures Of Growths On Dogs

You do need to show this to the vet - but be prepared to hear that it's probably one of many that will pop up in her old age - it looks like an adenoma.

Any time you discover a new growth, you should react a lot faster - there are aggressive cancers that can literally pop up over the space of a few days, that can be removed in time - but not if you wait for 4 months. Any growth is worrisome until it is pronounced slo growing or benign.

By looking at the picture it may be a growth or maybe something different. Nothing can be determined for sure. The only way to put your mind at rest is to see your vet. Only your vet can tell you what is wrong. Even if it is not hurting your dog, or bothering your dog, it could still be something that needs to be checked. So i suggest you see a vet =]
