Is 80-88 degrees too hot for an outdoor wedding and reception in baytown, TX (houston)? ?
We are getting married at Oakland on Burnet Bay in baytown, May 16th and the weather channel says it could be from 80-88 degrees.

We were thinking of starting the Ceremony around 5 or 5:30
the reception would follow and there is no shade! I'm just worried it will be too hot? (and who knows it could even rain)
they said it rained on 6 weddings, this past wedding season (rented a tent)
has anyone been to an outdoor wedding in may? Was it too hot?

I actually have a deposit at two venues, the other one is indoors at especial events
So that is why i'm trying to figure out which one i'm gonna keep.
Especial events: indoors, not attractive on outside (mostly abandoned shopping center) but pretty enough on inside, air conditioning...

May actually is a good time... no huricane season at that time... so it's a good time! Only thing is... try to get a wedding dress that isn't hot! yes it's ganna be kinda muggy, and like you said heels could dig in grass.. but I think it's so beautiful, the pictures are ganna beautiful.. one thing I did read in bridal magazine is, put your body spray in the frigde the night before... and spray some on before your big entrance to keep you a bit cool for the ceremony!

Some people are very susceptible to heat. Plus think of the humidity index. I know someone who had her wedding at 5:30 on a warm day in Tx in May. I declined the invitation and sent her good wishes from the comfort of my air conditioning. An indoor-outdoor setting would be better for your guests. Even though you're the bride, remember to try and make your guests comfortable, as well. Good luck and congratulations!
in Houston anything in the 80's is a blessing. Just make sure your guests know it's an outdoor wedding so they can wear sundress type clothes instead of something more formal. i would rent a small tent for shade though. older guests are going to need a break from the heat at some point.
I attended a wedding in Galveston in May. It was beautiful but very hot and humid! Everyone was sweating. The bride was sweating you could see her sweating. Even the it is supposed to be the happiest day of her life she looked uncomfortable. Not very many people came to the wedding but when it was time for the reception there was nearly 200.
You have to remember our weather here is very unpredictable especially during the summer months. Congratulations!! I hope it goes well.
Personally, I would be uncomfortable in temperatures like that And then you have to worry about rain. You'll have enough to worry about when you're planning your wedding--why add an unnecessary extra worry? I say, go for a pretty inside place with air conditioning (Of course, that's just me.)
