If you lived in an isolated village, and your church forbade you from climbing a mountain, would you? ?

You and a large group of others inhabit an isolated village. You have never seen others from outside the village, presumably because they don't exist. At the top of your village is a large mountain. The top is hidden from view by the clouds. The church has indoctrinated the villagers against climbing the mountain and told them that others do not exist. They also state that the god you worship inhabits the top of the mountain, and forbid you from entering his "domicile". You wish to climb the mountain. Do you? If you choose to climb the mountain, whom do you encounter at the top, and what do you see from the summit?

Yes, I have to see for myself if the grass is greener on the other side; I can't stand living in the shadows, to be ruled under the thumb of such restricting conditions.

Provided I am fit enough and have the proper experience and tools, as I climb the climb, I see people that look and act completely differently from those at my village. But, every time I go to greet them, they vanish as quickly as they came.

When I reach the top, I am disappointed because everything looks the same as the village I so desperately wished to escape. Suddenly, everything becomes, and I realized I have been blind my entire life. I desperately groping about the shadows, hating everything that I am and all else around me. But, as I come to, I see a light, and it burns me from the inside from the inside. I realize this light carries my hatred, but it clarified, as Eddie Brock realized, my sense of purpose.

As I come to, I find myself at the village, but this time imbibed with a burning desire to escape and discover the outside world in order to finally meet those fading mirages, kept "alive only in my memory..."

I wouldn't, simply because I'm scared of heights... but I'd dream about it... write stories perhaps...
and if they (the church) perhaps have told us specifically that others do not exist, i would wonder how they would know that and why they would insist they don't (kinda like what I'm doing with the christian god... I've been told that none other exists but I'm wondering if its the truth or its just until the real god is found... and doing some 'soul seeking' to find the answer...) and also, why would a god live so close and not try to see us? unless he's ashamed of what he created...
I have live in a place where the church is law (basically) and i have relatives who are in an even stricter church (basically, its just as bad as the church you have in your hypothetical scenario... except they know about the others... and they may know of the luxuries we have *internet, computers, radio, etc.* but they can't use them), so i know what it's like to have a church ruling your every decision, if I revolt now, i think I'd reject it all the same

sure, a pair in South u . s . a . and one in Europe. i became component to a crew aiming to climb Everest many years in the past, yet I fractured my foot and couldn't practice for 6 weeks excellent before we were aiming to fly accessible, so neglected out on that one. mountain mountaineering isn't all that complicated - there are lots of that you'll actually only walk up, without too a lot mission. now and again it really is not that straightforward - we had one the position the direction had fallen away and we had to climb up a sheer wall of rock, without ropes or some thing, the position falling might want to characterize a 500m drop onto a glacier, yet oftentimes it really is not some thing that scary! The worst section is the altitude - in spite of pills it really is nevertheless not relaxing, yet there are countless mountains you are able to climb that are low adequate that you do not prefer to worry about altitude sickness, inclusive of maximum in Europe.

yeah there are always going to be people out there that push the limits of what they are told is right and wrong. as a child i was one of those people. i never believed what i was told i had to feel or see it for myself. so i probably would have climbed that mountain just to see if they were right or wrong. i probably would now too i still don't believe much of what i am told nor do i take what people say as the truth. words are nice but they are so easily made false. but i am more trusting now than i ever was then.

Well since this is a hypothetical, and completely theoretical, the last question cant be answered because you don't know who would be at the summit.

As for climbing the mountain, it would depend if your curiosity was greater than your fear. I myself would give it a shot, yet the totally brainwashed me might make a different choice. He would be at the mercy of the church b/c of his ignorance
