Is this the baby moving? 16 1/2 weeks Pregnant?

Hello all,

I'm 16 and a half weeks pregnant and I've been feeling, what I can only describe as muscle spasms/flutters. Sometimes I'll feel a pop, then a spasm.

Do you think this is the baby moving? I've been waiting to feel it but what I am feeling isn't exactly what I was expecting.

Also, I've been having a lot of leg cramps (charlie horses), butt pain (tail bone) and vaginal pain (muscles feel like pulling when I move). Is this normal?

That's exactly how my first movements felt, like a really deep muscle spasm. It didn't hurt at all. I thought it would feel different than it did, too. The little pop or thump feeling you have is the baby actually kicking, the spasms I think are the baby rolling over.

Also, the leg cramps are completely normal. Mine started a little later than yours (20 weeks) but it just means you need more calcium and potassium (bananas). The pain around your tail bone is caused by your hips spreading a little as your uterus rises. The vaginal pain is part of the round ligament pain you should be experiencing about now as the ligaments around your uterus (and yes clear down in your vagina) stretch out to accomodate your growing uterus. To help ease muscle pains you can take tylenol, put a heating pad or heated rice pad on your aching muscles, and I've heard menthol rubs (like Vix) helps with leg cramps.

I know it's uncomfortable, but feeling all those kicks and movements make the discomfort worth it! Congratulations!

YES! Your baby is moving! Congrats! I know what you mean, I so thought it would have felt different, I had my Shy 7 months ago. Its like spasms, and that word seems to just hit it on the T for me. Flutters as well. The pop is kicking! Or punching, whichever. It will get more prominent as time goes on, and perhaps even to the point it will hurt as times! But it just makes me laugh none the less.
Leg cramps are common. DO NOT stretch your toes! That will totally send your calf into a spasm. When ever I would stretch, I would have to point my toes upwards as I did, because I would get serious charlie horses in my legs if I wasn't careful. I drank Gatorade, it helped sooo much.
The butt pain could just be your baby putting pressure on some nerves and tendons, shouldn't be anything to worry about. If it gets worse, ask your doc. But I'm sure it's just normal prego pains.
The vaginal pains? Not so sure about that. I would get sharp pains up inside there, almost breath taking. It's probably your cervix moving and adapting, or even your little one causing some havoc. It depends on where exactly. I would ask at your next appointment. They should be able to tell you exactly what it is. I can't recall anything, just discomfort down theres.

Hope this all helps! Congrats!

yes that is your baby moving at the moment baby still has a lot of room to move about and so you will only feel little flutters but as baby grows bigger you will feel kicks more and each day as their will be less room for baby to move,
i had the leg cramps pulling of muscles to i also had when that my bump was always cold omg the vaginal pain tell me about it i had it but honestly its normal all part n parcel of being pregnant,

hey hun,

Yes thats baby letting you know they are there ;) i felt baby at this too ;).

As the weeks go on. Babies movements will become stronger, Also dont get worried if one day you only feel them once or twice and not regulary. As it is still early and charting babies movements should begin in 3rd trimester/. the baby is still growing & has lotsa room.

God Bless xx Babies movements are the beautifulest xx
