Hubby is deployed and I was thinking about sending him a care package once a month. He's at a base where he can get pretty much anything he wants and he should be gone for seven months.

Once a month is perfectly fine. I send my hubby one at least once a month but I try to do it every other week so that way when he runs out of stuff he has a constant flow of packages. make sure you get the free military kit from the post office. They supply you with free forms and free flat rate boxes. The military ones are a little bigger than just standard flat rate boxes. Honestly just send them when you have enough stuff gathered in a box.

i do one about every 10-14 days. our first trip to the sand he needed everything as he wasnt on a base ,,,he is in a different corner now and able to get most things,,,i still send favorites that are local here at home (certain chips and things), some things he wants they do not carry and i send those too. of course homemade cookies are a staple. never under estimate the joy of a box with a newspaper, a card, cookies, pictures, and his favorites,,,just because he can "get it there" doesnt mean he wont LOVE it coming from home.

when my husband was gone (but he was still stateside when i did it), i would send him a package every week, sometimes 2 times a week - postage gets to suck though
