How do you "google" somebody?
I hear about people "googling" just about anyone, but when I try it, I can get almost no information, even on myself. Is there some kind of trick to this?

Ok, googling someone does have a few little tricks. Most people think that it just means looking up in Google search but in reality this does not cover anywhere near all instances a person might exist on the net.
Obviously you need to look in google.com first but if the person you are googling is not in the USA you may get a result on whatever google site they are nearest to eg google.ie or google.co.uk
Secondly there is Google image search and its advanced image search where you can just search for faces for example.
There is also Google Blog Search which contains many people's blogs that are visible. A person's presence on the internet is also hidden in many cases like on bebo, myspace, facebook and youtube because Googlebot either ranks these pages lower or they are behind password screens that prevent the robot from looking there.
If after that you are not able to find someone there is of course the academic 'deep web' which is not googling but examples like lexus nexus if you have access to or have large amounts of cash just lying around which contains journal articles and international newspapers and is not like an ordinary search.
Finally if there is an online version of the local newspaper where someone lives it may just be possible to find them in the newspapers archives if they are searchable online.

I don't really know a trick. The only googling I've ever heard of is just typing the person's name in and seeing what comes up.

No trick.
Some people just have more information about them published on the web than other people do.

less is better that means you don't post a lot of personal information on the internet that the world can see
