Overweight but with a hectic busy schedule... ?

I'm overweight. seriously. and i want to lose it. Problem is, i have one heck of a busy schedule EVERYDAY. like full on studying and tutoring everyday plus school hours. How am i suppose to balance exercise in it? I find yoga really fun though, would it help? plus i really hate running, so that's not an option.

We're all busy. You have to make time for the things that are important to you. Yoga would be a time inefficient choice because its not strenuous enough to burn a lot of calories. Most people I hang with use yoga as an accessory to their exercise program, not the main deal. Its the first casualty when they get pressed for time.

Best choices for time spent vs. calories burned are cross country skiing, running, cycling, and swimming. In that order. Walking is OK, but takes a LOT of time to do any good.

IMHO, the most time efficient way to exercise is incorporating one or more of the above as a means of regular transportation. That way commute time and exercise time are the same. Without bike commuting, I'd never have managed enough training time to do Ironman triathlons.

P.S. If you're THAT busy, how do you find time to eat too much? Something to think about......

Change the foods that you eat. Eat healthier and you will have no choice but to lose the weight. I am not sure if you have a sit down job but there are exercises you can do at the desk.

Also if you can increase your water intake as well, lay off soda if you do drink that. Light snacking with vegetables and low calorie snacks will help too. I don't know if you have a spare 30 mins in your schedule but at least maybe about two to three times a week you could go to the gym and do some cardio or in even in your own home they have plenty of dvds with 30 min work outs. Good luck!

Start with small changes ie walking or riding to school if thats too much in one go for getting off of the bus 2 stops early or parking ur car 1/2 a mile from school. perhaps waking 15-30 minutes earlier to do a cardio type excersise to get you mind and body pumping. Im not sure about yoga (i must be the only person in the world that does not like it or get it LOL) make small changes to the way that you eat as well simply by swapping to wholemeal or wheat products could make a small difference. I would say MAKE time for it, It doesnt require much time and you can only benefit from it. x

You absolutely HAVE to make time for yourself. Schedule 20 minutes in the morning to use a dvd with dancing or exercise. Going on a brisk 20 minute walk outside is a great way to exercise too. Keep a calendar and check off the days you work out. If you make time for it you will lose the weight.

Squeeze in where u can. Like instead of taking the car or bus, everything short distance you should walk or take a bike. Instead of taking the elevator - take the stairs. While watching tv, do some scrunches. Also very effective while you stand up lift one leg up and hold it for a few seconds. Repeat with other. keep doing. You can lift it higher orlower so u will work different muscles. This will work your abs and your butt. Also squeeze your butt ( yes you heard me right..lol) squeeze and relax, repeat. Do this while you sit, stand up, whatever. You will see results as your behind will get firmer and shrink. You can do these two exercises practically everywhere.

Basically what you need to do is exercise when you do your daily routine, u understand?
