What union are you in? I'd think they should be the ones to help you. They >might< even find you a job. A job is far better for your health and long-term recovery than being a layabout lout on the dole.

Well, that being the case, Kudos to you for striving so hard to play the hand you are dealt well. My advice still stands -- you already know that being a layabout gains nothing for a man, and you know it because you never have, even though it would have been easy.

With your long experience as a plumber already you will be able to take a more supervisory job. Or a "watcher" type job. In Philadelphia I know the plumbers union could help you even if you can't get down on you hands and knees all the time to work anymore. Look to your union to help, or move to a city where the union is more able to help.

Or -- instead of unemployment some states have small business start up programs in lieu of unemployment -- they use the same money pool, but give it to you in lumpier sums to help get a business started. Start you own business and hire apprentices and laborers to supervise. You could easily get into plumbing inspections -- that labor is mostly walking and driving to inspection sites.

Geez....I asked u a question ages ago. You didn't answer me. If u can type and use a computer u might try opening a website and making some money teaching people plumbing, etc.

Also, u say your surgery was done recently so it might even improve your situation, but yeah having an online school might work. Or just charging a small fee for plumbing do-it-yourselfers.
