Is the crankshaft pulley bolt on a 93 saturn sl right or left hand threaded... 4 cyl sohc?

Counter-clockwise to remove, clockwise to tighten. Good luck, I have run into this several times before. Depending on which way your engine turns, you can put a heavy 6-point socket and breaker bar on the bolt and put the breaker bar against the car's frame and hit the starter. The pulley is not threaded. There should be a bolt through the pulley that holds it on. This bolt should be right threaded. The bolt is most likely tightened to 180 ft-lbs of torque or more with a thread lock compound. After removing the bolt you will need a pulley remover to get the pulley off. I think it might be left threaded. You can call a shop and find out for sure. I would also use some penetrating oil to help with any seizing you most likely have....Show more
