Desert treat found in Western Pennsylvania?

While driving through western and central Pennsylvania we stopped to eat several times and every restaurant or bakery had a type of desert. It was a chocolate cake on top and bottom with a cream filling. Looked like a giant oreo cookie but was a cake. What were they called and where can I find a recipe for them. The best treat we ever tasted.

I have found out they are called gobs. Anyone have a recipe. The cream filling was so light and fluffy .. not like frosting.

Whoopie Pies! (also called Gobs in Western PA. We always called them Whoopie Pies in Central PA.) Marshmallow Fluff is one onf the ingredients in my Mother-in-law's recipe.
