I use a 12 for the large muffin type and a little more
the 16 for the regular and the 20 for the mini's they work well for my portioning. others are confused maybe a better word would be portioning scoop.

Ice Cream Scoop For Cupcakes

Many people use ice cream scoops to ladle the batter into the cupcake pans, this makes each one exactly the same size. It doesn't matter what size you use, just as long as you're not filling the cupcake pans more than 3/4 of the way with batter. I usually just use a soup ladle. Like this:

Sure i do. I also use an ice cream scoop when I make corn muffins. It's so much cleaner and easier to use. I like the small ones, but the big ones work as well.
