There are numerous reasons for low voter turnout in the US.

Many of them are related to disgust and apathy.

However that disgust, that apathy, is generally directed to the entire American political system, not a specific candidate.

Your numbers and your conclusion are in error, "my friend."

I'm not gonna search for that info again - the election is over, thank God and I've no doubt put the whole "I'm right, you're wrong" stuff way in the back of my memory - but there are just over 305 million people in the U.S.A.

I believe that 53% of the people who were eligible to vote, actually voted. I know for a fact that it was several points OVER one-half of the electorate, because such a big deal was made about it.

Again, roughly a bit over 68 million voted Obama, and a bit over 56 million voted McCain = about 125 million votes cast, out of a theoretical 238 million IF ALL eligible voters actually voted.

I agree with the poster who opined: if ya didn't vote, then "shup." So what if they both suck? One sucks less than the other, IMHO. That ain't sayin' much... but NOT voting implies that you can't just sit around and bltch about the results.

nicely a tiny fraction of the ninety six.7 million belong to the 40 9 or so different social gathering affiliations. now to not indicate write ins. yet i imagine some merely did not coach themselves sufficient to understand who to vote for and easily skipped the finished situation. also evaluate the threat that even as that's elementary to to sign in to vote even as doing something substantial say like renewing your drivers license, many don't evaluate vote casting to be a concern and experience that it would not count number. Take the Electoral Vote....i do not thoroughly comprehend it yet a minimum of I regarded it as a lot as earnings some expertise of the technique. And very last yet not least, some those who registered to vote even as they were given their drivers license are literally incarcerated and are not eligible to vote until eventually their parole is accomplished.

I only had one vote to give. it was not enough, because I did not vote for Barack Obama and he won anyway. Now that Barack Obama is the president, I feel it is my duty to respect him as such, the majority rules and the majority elected the president.

there are ones from both sides that suck but the sad thing is the ones who voted find everything their elect is doing is just a-ok don't matter if he is spending more money than all us presidents put together, don't matter if it will take generations to pay back don't matter if America is bankrupt or heading towards socialism, that's the bad part of this fraudulent elect
