Does Directv add an extra charge if I get a DVR from ebay?
I noticed that you can get older directv receivers with tivo and things for pretty cheap nowadays. I have two more places on the dish where I can connect more receivers that will cost like $4 more each per month. If I bought a used DVR from ebay would they know I have it and charge me extra??

each additional receiver after the first is $5.00 per month, then add $5.98 per month for the dvr service. Any used receiver added will require you to purchase a new access card for the used receiver for $20.00. You will have to pay over the phone for this, they wont add it to your bill. Before you buy a used receiver, get the receiver i.d. from the seller and confirm with Directv that the box is clear for re-deployment. If the previous owner owes them any money, they will not activate it
DirecTV has its very own DVR; it and the TiVo DirecTV units are the only ones which will artwork with DIrecTV. call DirecTV and ask approximately what DVRs they could grant. they have the two oftentimes used and HD DVRs accessible. you should use the hot DVR to change the receiver you presently have, or upload it as one greater receiver. after all, you will could get a clean card from DirecTV, because of fact the cardboard is tied to the receiver and could't be swapped.
Yes of course. Just hooking it up to the dish won't result in programming. All you will be able to see is DTV infor channels, such as 101. You need to have it activated and added to your account to receive programming. Also, you need to keep the service active to even watch prerecorded programs.
