How to Shut Down Avast!?
Avast! seems to be reasonably satisfactory. However, really two questions:
Firstly:
How to I shut it down. And I don't mean "Stop On-Access Protection". I mean shut down, dead. No background processes, no scheduled scans, not even a little icon in the lower right, nothing. I suppose I can just kill the associated process, sure, but there must be some method intended to accomplish this.
Second:
How can I set it to no longer start when I reboot? I haven't been able to find the setting to disable this behavior.
Now, just to handle this off the bat, because it seems like any time I see this issue addressed, there always this question:
"Why do you need to close Avast?" etc.
And my answer is, well, just never you mind that. I'm a quite competent computer user, and while perhaps programmers like myself are not necessarily the best experts in security, I feel that I do just fine. Suffice to say, on my computer, I control what goes on. I use the tools at my disposal as I see fit. They don't place controls on me.
