Spiritually speaking, what are your thoughts on prison rape?

(According to your religious moral views.) If you find it immoral, what do you think should be done to prevent it? How should those guilty of raping prisoners be punished? If you feel it should continue (e.g. the prisoners deserve it), why do you feel this way? Do you find it immoral that some prisoners are repeatedly victimized in this way while others are not?

Thank you for your answers.

(((Colette))) I agree. Thank you.

MST3K: Exactly. Allowing it to happen violates the constitutional ban on "cruel and unusual" punishment. It also violates due process, as it was not part of the sentence determined by the judge. Thank you for your answer.

(((Gorgeous))) Exactly. And the prison guards who commit rape (primarily in women's correctional facilities) should be punished as well, and no longer be allowed to serve as prison guards. Funny how I agree with deists and atheists rather than my fellow Christians on this issue.

Thank you for your answer, as always. =)

Markyyy: I agree. Convicted felons should be allowed to vote. And that area of the world that you mentioned has some excellent programs for rehabilitating criminals. I'm one of the few people who believes a permanent record of crimes should not be made public, so that criminals can return as productive members of society, rather than being denied employment and spend the rest of their lives being harassed by "model" citizens.

Thank you for your answer.

Ol' Nick: Exactly.

D.Zilla: It's unbelievable, the inhumanity that is allowed to go on in these "correctional" facilities.

Bobby: Thank you for answering. I think prison rape is disgusting.

Peace be with you!

It's of course very, very wrong.

Any good punishment should have three goals: punishing the criminal for what he/she has done wrong, educating the criminal on why that was wrong so that it doesn't happen again, and prepare the prisoner for a safe, healthy return into society after the punishment is over.

All that does not include the person losing his/her basic human rights.
I can't even understand why prisoners shouldn't vote.

I've worked for a year as a teacher in a prison in Holland, and there I've seen first hand that education truly works, and how it significantly lowers the chance of the criminal repeating his crimes after he's released.

What I look at in terms of right or wrong, is whether this 9 year old child has the capacity to carry twins safely or not. A physical body of that size cannot do this safely. The further damage to this poor child would probably last for a lifetime. As a prolifer, I see an abortion as taking away the life of the most innocent in this situation. However, in this case, the child is not capable of raising twins, nor is she likely to deliver without serious side effects. While I take a more hardline stance on what is right or wrong in terms of abortion, ultimately what I don't understand, is why the Roman Catholic Church feels that the 9 year old girls life is not in danger. Allowing the pregnancy to continue in the chance that she could safely deliver would be wrong.

It's repugnant. Any man who would screw another guy is a ******, it's as simple as that. Rape doesn't change the fact that it is SEX. It is a SEXUAL act. It involves SEXUAL anatomical design, therefore it is SEX. The same for women, they are perverts. These men choose to be homosexual when they go to prison, therefore that means homosexuality IS A CHOICE. It's disgusting, it's filthy, it's utterly sickening. No excuses, no exceptions. I'm the most law-abiding, goody-two shoes type guy in the world, but if I ever get falsely accused and wind up in jail as a result, I'm killing myself the day of my court conviction. Never will I set foot in a place full of guys who choose to be sodomites. Never. They are abominations turned over to a reprobate mind, exactly as God said He would do to those who chose to rebel against Him.

A man who chose to keep his righteous heterosexuality in that situation should use his hand. That's the only acceptable method. Or a wet towel, or something like that. But the thought of putting your penis in a guy's *** should instantly kill your erection unless you've chosen to be a fag. Yuck. Every one of those fags who screws another guy should be set ablaze. In full view of the other prisoners. That will put an end to it.

If you want to punish someone and assert your "dominance" over them, fine. Break their bones and bruise them. That will keep them in line. Becoming a homosexual is not necessary.

I think it's bad.
We shouldn't send people to jail for stupid things like minding their own business and smoking a little weed.
If marijuana were legal we'd take 67% of the profits that support the Mexican Cartels, not that Americans know or care. The few that get it are all in favor of moving the military into Mexico. We wouldn't just save the $Billions that the war cost, we would save double it in court cost and the cost of jails.

Not to mention the drop in prison rape.

Horrific. I saw Shaw shank redemption years ago.......I still have nightmares. The things people are capable of doing.......unimaginable.
No, that should not be allowed, those caught in the act of forcing themselves on others should have their ***** cut off. Prisons have cameras posted everywhere.
