In anthropology and archaeology, one of the most unique things about human beings is that they bury their dead. The tombs of the Pharaohs are a prime example of this. The Pharaohs were buried with food and other items they would need on their journey into the afterlife.

Human beings create art to tell stories and record history. The cave paintings of Altamira and Lascaux are testimony to this.

Human beings seek to understand the meaning of life and the forces of nature. This usually results in a belief in gods and the supernatural. The stone-age carvings of fertility goddesses are the first evidence of such a belief.

Human beings live in community and work together to find food and shelter. They also, unfortunately, engage in conflict and wage war with each other.

Human communities are at various stages of development, ranging from hunters and gatherers, to agricultural civilizations, to modern industrial civilizations. They use tools to perform tasks of increasing difficulty and skill.
