why can blacks have "black pride" and mexicans can have "mexican pride" but whites can't have "white pride"?
seriously. blacks can freely go around saying how proud they are of their history and race, which is absolutely fine and dandy, and mexicans go around saying "viva la mexico" and so on. but how come when i white says im proud to be white or white power or anything along those lines, they are either white supremacists or racists?
what's with the double standards, people? i'm not afraid to say, "I'M WHITE AND I'M PROUD!"
shoot me, call me racist, but nothing is going to change my mind. if a black dude can say "i'm proud to be white" then i can say "i'm proud to be white,"
isn't that what mlk jr. fought for? equality among all humans? yes. yes he did.
please, give me your thoughts.

that is a badge of inferiority for Black People and Mexican People.
Only very immature people go around spouting Black Pride and Mexican Pride.
No self respecting person would want to join them in that nonsense.
I certainly would never join them in spouting that nonsense.
Well... I routinely go to "gay pride" events and all I can say is this:
The use of the word "pride" in these situations does not mean that the person is dumbly proud to be born the way they were - they are proud of their small victories in times of great challenge and struggle.
The Irish for example, have a lot of pride because their history is overwraught with famine, exile, slavery, poverty and religious war.
Blacks in America have pride because of their withstanding of slavery and decades of oppression.
Whites (in general) can absolutely have pride - but the phrase "White Pride" was hijacked by neo-nazis a few years ago, along with "white power" and so it can have the effect of making a person seem racist or overzealous to those who object to or are wary of Nazism...
I'm black and I know the "ethnic only pride thing" isn't right. Being Politically Correct is tearing up the country it is only causing more frustration and tension.
But being black I never understood the whole "proud because I'm black" attitude. I believe if someone is proud they don't even need to say that It shows their insecure.
Personally although I think people can be proud of their heritage if they can honestly say that they have actually descended from the family or genealogical line of George Washington or MLK ; I can't understand how people can say they are proud merely because they have the same skin color that MLK or George Washington had.
My personal opinion, I think its just because America is like a blank slate and its welcomed for other nations to come here. And being that their are a bunch of different people, I feel like some people feel like their race is being drowned out and they want to be the "loudest" one most known, hey look at me i am here. I think with black and white people, their will never be a happy medium in that regard of which speak. The reason I think that is because if one were to embrace the other to them its like saying- I condone slavery, or I condone constantly being blammed for ever for being a racist-
