I am building a semi circle south facing planter. What should I plant?
I am using river rocks left from previous owner 19 years ago. I already have thyme, sage, rosemary, Lavender and a Mira Cielo chile that I have had in pots the last few years that I will put in it. How should I arrange these? What else would go nice in the planter? I live in the Corona Riverside, Mira Loma area of socal.

Being a Riverside County resident, I can get you off on the right foot. First off, it's important to be diverse so you can have a wide range of beautiful and useful plants. Plant one or two of many types of plants instead of larger quantities of just a few types.
Below are four categories of plants I consider essential to California gardens. I grouped them by use so you get more than just a pretty plant. All of those below you can buy in 6 packs or small pots at nurseries and garden centers. Armstrong Garden Centers in your area have a lot of them or either Home Depot or Lowes.
Edible Flowers. These are great in salads and as garnish. Calendula, viola and nasturtium.
Herbs culinary for seasoning. Bulbing fennel offers licorice flavored foliage, but it makes a celery like bulb that's delicious too! This and basil and planted garlic cloves are all you need for Italian food. Plant cilantro and green onion bulbs for Mexican dishes.
Veggies Grow collars or kale for summer cooking greens. Heirloom tomatoes in varying colors. Anaheim or pimento peppers.
Cut flowers for indoors. Florist sunflowers in diffo colors, tall zinnias, Mexican sunflower (tithonia).
