When I start my car it 'cuts out' for a little bit and smokes (white smoke not black) out of the exhaust pretty bad for a few minutes...any help is appreciated. I just want some opinions before I put it in the shop for repair.
I am female and single so I am not sure what this is?

if it stops smoking after the eng. gets to temp. then it could be valve guide seals. need to have a compretion test done to make sure it isnt more serious.

most any cars that have white smoke is usually the engine . can be, short on oil.. can be the head gasket that is damaged (blown). may be the time belt is off a little . if the head gasket is blown your car should overheat . motor will feel powerless and oil and water will mix .how to check the oil for water pull the dip stick and if the oil looks like starbucks coffee with milk then that"s a bad gasket.hope my answers help wish i could help more tk you
