Is it blasphemous to watch Pokemon, since the Pokemon evolve?

I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

While there are SOME elements that might bother SOME people, I personally don't have any/many issues with Pokemon, aside from the idea of Pokeballs seeming somewhat cruel.

If it wasn't for the evolving part, I might have banned Pokemon in my house.

And to evolve does not only mean organic evolution. The term just means gradual change. Metamorphosis, Pokemon changing into new types, as well as changing your mind over time, getting used to your wife's snoring, are all examples of evolving. Pokémon evolution is nothing like the theory of evolution. The Theory takes place over millions of years (supposedly), while Pokémon can do it multiple times in one lifetime. So as the other posters have said, that's more metamorphosis or mutation than evolution.

The creators of Pokemon have taken plenty of flak for a number of things (mostly from over-protective, fundamentalist parents), teaching the theory of evolution being one, I never really considered the fact as a kid, I just cared about making them stronger :)...Show more
