I just got my test results back. I tested positive. Any mommies that have tested +, what were your experiences. What did they do when you went into labor? I know they give you antibiotics and such... but, i'd really like your personal experiences.

I think it is something like 50% of women carry the +GBS in their bodies.
It will not effect your labour and delivery very much. They will give you an IV (or you can ask for a Heb Lock, which is an IV line in place that can be disconnected after the give you the dose of medication, this way you can move more freely). Generally they give you one dose every 4 hours until birth, although do contact your doctor to find out for sure.
If you water breaks before you go into labour, your care provider will most likely want you to come into hospital to start the first dose of medication, although again, ask him/her if you have a certain amount of hours to hope labour kicks in on its own before coming in.
I went had it and went into labor early. They didn't have my results back yet and had to rush them. They came back + and hooked me up the IV. I had several bags of antibiotics. It was nice because they could let me go over the 24 hour period for c-section and I delivered vaginally. There was really no cause for infection with all the medication. They also kept us for 48 hours for observation. A little mini vaca.
i had it too. there is no way for you to tell you have it and it really doesn't effect you. they like to bring you n i forget how early like some odd hours before you give birth so they can start an iv. they start it as soon as you go in. the only bad thing about having it was they made me stay in the hospital for 2 day or 48 hours. i just wanted to go home. i had my son at 10 pm so i had to stay 3 days because they didn't want to send me home at 10 on the second day.
I had it with my 4th baby, but not with any of the other ones (6 total). So I know it doesn't always happen. But, it was no different for me because I had an epidural anyway so all they do is give you the antibiotic through your IV and it's no biggie! Good luck with your delivery. I hope all goes well and congrats!
hi im a mom of 6 i have tested positive for 4 of my 6 pregnancies you will have to be on antibiotics when you go into labour and that s pretty much it they just give you an extra iv for that it didn t bother me birth still went smoothly.
