First day of period/BBT question?

I have always spotted before my actual period began, and since it was brown I didn't count it. Well the last few months the spotting has been red. So to try and clear things up I started tracking my temps again like I did before I had both kids. This month what happened was I ovulated, and 10 days of high temps, had 2 days of bright red spotting (temps still elevated), then they dropped down yesterday, and my spotting stopped yesterday, then today I got a heavy period. So what would you count? Usually your temps go down the day before or the day of your period so should I Icount today as my period? The fact that my temps were still elevated for the 2 days of spotting is still part of my luteal phase then right?? Thank you so much :)

Hi there,

CD1 is the first day you see full red flow, regardless of what your temps are doing. The only reason why I would put the spotting as part of your luteal phase is because spotting isn't considered a new cycle.

Another thing about temps... for some women it can take several days into a new cycle for their temps to level off due to all the hormone changes. So I wouldn't go by temps.

Good luck!

I would count the day of a red flow as cd1. When I BBT I sometimes have high temps through cd2 of the next cycle.

I would count today as cycle day 1. My RE says CD1 is the first day of red flow, not just spotting. He says if you just have to use a panty liner it's just spotting.

First day of your period is always counted by first day of full flow. Spotting sounds like its still part of luteal phase.

Rocker Wife sound right to me, as do the others who say today is Day 1.
