Flower plants that are good for growing inside?

I'm not a super experienced gardner outside of planting a few flowers outside, and I don't have much of a desire to deal with super high-maintenance plants that need extra resources(I know Roses, for instance, are hard to grow indoors) - but I love the smell and look of flowers. I have to full windows in my rooms with window-sills, and there is a lot of natural light in my room - plus a table near one of the windows. I was wondering if it was really practical(and relatively neat..I don't want soil or anything everywhere - but I don't mind having to clean it up every once in a while) to want to grow small potted plants(ideally flowers - something pretty and fragrant?) inside?

If so, can you point me to some practical plants, potting arrangments, and just tips in general? Thanks so much!

my first plant was an african violet. super easy to take care of, and really pretty. a little water and sunshine and these babies pop flowers like nobody's business. they can be purple, yellow, white, and pink. i think that's what you should get. they come "pregrown" at most department stores/garden centres.

however i don't remember them smelling. some herbs can be grown in pots like basil or mint. these are really useful and they are fragrant. and mint even has little pretty purple flowers. you can often get herbs "pregrown" in supermarkets or garden centres, but if not growing from seed can be done as well. get a large enough pot for mint - it spreads and don't plant seeds too deep. water and cover with plastic wrap to keep the water in till it sprouts. then you'll have ur own mint *hooray*

besides asking her on YA, you can also ask at any local garden centre. they will have good tips on plants and planting, also upkeep.

try an african violet they just need water and a fairly sunny windowsill they look beautiful and smell wonderful
