Does anyone know how it works. Does your vehicle have to get under 18 mpg to qualify. Everytime I read info, I get more confused... I have a 91 Mazda Protege I would love to get rid of (lol)..
SOOOOO many dealers are in trouble for this program.
It has been broken down recently. Look on the government websites for more information. You can also ask the dealers now, as they have to follow the legalities.
On cars, it is based on how many miles per gallon less your car gets. In my state, it is less than 22mpg. If 2 mpg less, the cash amount is $3500. If 4 or more mpg less, the amount is $4500.
Trucks and SUVs have a different amount. It depends on the car you purchase, and it must be comparable to the type of vehicle, etc.
that's a CON pastime by way of the federal government to get those that can not manage to pay for a greater ideal USED motor vehicle to spend money they have not got on a sparkling motor vehicle. the optimum you may get on your 'clunker' is $4,500. in case you don't hire a motor vehicle properly worth greater suitable than that, you could no longer manage to pay for and extra $6000+ for a low-priced new motor vehicle. Edit: Studly desires to study his assets besides. you do no longer get carry of a tax credit. You get carry of a VOUCHER that is used to purchase the hot motor vehicle. in case you do no longer purchase a QUALIFYING new motor vehicle interior the mandatory time, you get no longer something for the previous motor vehicle. word: the authentic words have been left not sure and is not any longer extensive-unfold till later this month.
This site has all the info you'll need to know about the program. The Ford's cash for clunkers site has a calculator where you can enter in your car's info to see if you qualify.
