Animal Lovers- Would you ever love going hunting?

There is this one lady at work who has several cats and claims to be a great cat lover. She has pictures of them all over her desk. But she also has several pictures of her by dead deer that she hunted and murdered, with her holding them by the head or antlers and smiling. She raves on and on about how she loves hunting and the taste of deer meat and rabbit meat is so good, and she's tried (and killed) just about every meat there is (including cat). So how on earth can she "love" cats so much, but also love to murder innocent animals? She once raved about killing a baby deer and eating it, as well.

To this day I will not talk to her because I'm disgusted by it.

Have you ever met anyone who has pets of their own that they "love," yet they go out and murder innocent animals and enjoy every minute of it? And worst of all, have you met anyone who enjoyed eating the very same species of meat their own "beloved" pet is???

Obviously I would never do that. I am the proud mother of two beautiful Dutch rabbits and love them with everything I've got. And although I'm not vegan, I do hate the idea of eating meat. I feel TERRIBLE everytime I eat something meat. I even have stayed away from seafood my entire life because everytime I imagine eating seafood I picture eating my childhood pet fish "Mac." I just started (1 year ago) occassionally eating popcorn shrimp, but even then I feel like I'm eating my pet :( And I don't eat it much. MAYBE once a month, about 5 pieces.

Hmmm... Looks like no one knows how to READ in this question.
The question is not about eating meat. I know animals need to die to get the meat so humans can eat it. And it's not about overpopulation.

This is about a woman who calls herself a cat lover but loves to eat cat meat. She thinks of herself as an advocate for animals and that she is against abuse towards animals, but when she hunts she brags about shooting them in a place that won't kill them, but lets them die slower so that she can take a picture with her "hunt".

BTW- Humans have an "overpopulation" problem. Therefore, with some logic from people on here, I don't see this lady having a problem with murdering people and eating them. Since it's the same concept.

But again, I'm not against eating meat although I do feel guilty with every bite. Though it seems that many who answered this are open to killing their children for food, as they've said...

It's entirely possible, in fact many of us do love animals. Most of us have pets of some sort, and some of us even make a living with animals. For example I'm a dairy farmer, and spend most of the day caring for the cows, but still enjoy hunting. Many people have dogs that are their best friend and hunting buddy. The list can go on and on. While it may sound strange, hunters are probably the people who care about wildlife the most. Many of us go out of our way to help the species we enjoy hunting, which not only can help with success, but keep the populations healthy so we can continue to enjoy hunting them. This can include planting food plots and restoring or creating habitat, Also most of the fees for hunting licenses go towards habitat conservation, as well as a small tax placed on most hunting equipment is dedicated for this purpose. Provided you're physically able to do so, you're never too old to start hunting, not everyone started everything they enjoy doing when they were a kid. As for finding someone to go with, perhaps you have a friend, neighbor relative who hunts, or else know of someone from work, church, other activities that does. Another good place to look is try to make some friends at a local shooting range. Most hunters are happy to help introduce new people to the sport. Another thing to think about is if you eat meat or use leather an animal died. The difference here is harvesting the animal yourself or having someone else do it. I do realize there are people who don't like the idea of harvesting the animal themselves for various reasons, but there is a huge difference between hunting an animal (or working in a slaughterhouse for that matter) and not caring about animals.

You can't murder a deer. Maybe you should look up the definition of murder. Idiots killed wolves....idiots killed cougar. Now there's nothing to keep the deer population in check so humans HAVE to hunt them otherwise they'd be all over the place riddled with disease (as happens in any overcrowding situation). Secondly deer are a legitimate prey animal and are eaten. The only time I'm against hunting is when somebody shoots something they're not going to eat. You're not going to eat a Tiger, or a Polar Bear, or any of these things some people like to turn into trophies. If you kill something kill it to protect yourself or for food, that's the way I see it.

LOL, murdering deer...

I love animals. Always have, always will.
I have no problem with REAL hunting. I do not feel it is completely wrong for us to eat other beings. What I do think is wrong is the cruel in inhumane treatment of the majority of livestock animals in the US, particularly in CAFO's.

What I mean by "real" hunting is actual going out in the woods and hunting... I am not cool with game farms. I think people who "hunt" at game farms are seriously kidding themselves.

If I go out in the woods and kill a deer, bring it home and use all of the meat to feed myself (and my dogs) that deer lived it entire life up until harvest as a free wild animal. I find that to be the most humane way to eat meat there is.

I think it's very important to remember that hunters are some of the best wildlife advocates we have. (Particularly in places like Wisconsin where hunting and wildlife are a huge source of revenue)

I don't think I could ever hunt big game like deer or moose. However, I am pretty sure I would love bird hunting. I have two golden retrievers, who were bred to retrieve fallen birds, and I would really love to actually be able to do that with them. I don't know why I feel differently about birds or other small game than I do about large prey.

I'm an omnivore and I really don't feel bad about eating meat. I wouldn't eat veal or other baby animals, but it doesn't bother me to have a steak or anything like that.

Anyway, I'm definitely an animal lover, but I would love to go bird hunting.

ADD: After reading other answers, I just had to add that I would NEVER go hunting just for sport. I definitely believe in eating what you hunt. I also would not go hunting bear, big cats, or anything like that. I have been fishing and it's actually quite fun.
