NLDS and AT&T phone service - what is your opinion?

I had a call at work today and request your opinion:
1. caller states there was a billing error affecting 5,000 companies in Indiana
2. caller states that the error occurred for customers using AT&T small business phone service
3. caller states that rules require them to contact parties affected by the error within 72 hours of the error, and that the error occurred 2 weeks prior to the date of the call
4. caller describes the error as phone lines being billed at a rate of $54.95 per line rather than the correct amount of $4.95 per line
5. caller states that they are not AT&T but they are NLDS
6. caller states that they will transfer me to a service representative who will ask questions that will be recorded, and whereby I acknowledge that I wish to return to the rate of $4.95 per phone line

At this point, the call is transferred, but the recorded portion of the statement DOES NOT include a statement that AT&T has made an error or the rule of the 72 hour notice.

What does get recorded (their representative is making the statements) is essentially that I have stated that I was 18 years or over (which I had acknowledged) and that I wish to accept a rate of $4.95 per phone line with NLDS. They stated the company name and address and asked me to acknowledge that I did accept the rate. However, since they recited an OUTDATED company address, I had suspicions and stated that I did NOT wish to accept any statements at that time.

The representative stated "WHAT??" and I repeated that I did not wish to accept any statements. The "WHAT???" and my wish to decline were repeated 3 or 4 more times, when the representative blurted "Beeotch" (sorry about the spelling, but you know) and slammed down the phone.

What is your opinion of company NLDS?

That type of treatment is inappropriate. You should speak to their supervisor
